Where Will Shedeur Sanders Be Drafted? Browns Favored to Take Colorado QB After 1st-Round Slide

Shedeur Sanders didn't hear his name called in Thursday's first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, but oddsmakers don't expect his draft slide to last much longer.
The Colorado quarterback is the heavy favorite to be the No. 33 pick by the Cleveland Browns, according to the latest odds at FanDuel entering Day 2 of the NFL draft. Sanders is priced at -170 to be the first pick in the second round, which implies a 62.96% chance he'll be the first player off the board tonight.
Here's a look at the latest Shedeur Sanders NFL draft odds entering Round 2:
🏈 Shedeur Sanders NFL draft odds: Will he be drafted No. 33?
Entering the first round, Sanders had an outside chance of hearing his name called within the top 10 picks. Instead, he's the clear favorite to be the first player drafted in the second round - which would make him the third quarterback off the board after Cameron Ward (No. 1) and Jaxson Dart (No. 25).
Here are the latest odds at FanDuel to be the No. 33 pick in the NFL draft, which is currently held by the Browns:
- Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado: -170
- Mason Taylor, TE, LSU: +360
- Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama: +650
- TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State: +900
- Tyler Shough, QB, Texas Tech: +1600
- Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE, Boston College: +1600
- Will Johnson, CB, Michigan: +1900
- Luther Burden, WR, Missouri: +2100
- Mike Green, ED, Marshall: +2400
- Nick Emmanwori, S, South Carolina: +3000
Among the top 10 players listed as possible candidates at No. 33, three of them - Sanders, Jalen Milroe, and Tyler Shough - are quarterbacks. That's a clear position of need for Cleveland as it looks to move on from Deshaun Watson.
The Browns had two chances to draft the heir apparent under center in the first round, but they opted to trade down from the No. 2 pick before selecting Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham with the No. 5 pick.
📉 Why did Shedeur Sanders fall out of 1st round?
It's impossible to know exactly why Sanders dropped out of the first round on Thursday, especially after he was mocked as the No. 1 overall pick entering the 2024 season and was viewed as a potential top-five pick earlier this spring.
Given that all 32 teams had a shot and passed on the polarizing passer, it's likely more than one reason. The simple one? Only a handful of teams were willing to spend a first-round pick on a weak quarterback class, and two of them opted for players with better traits and more perceived upside than Sanders.
While Sanders was highly productive in four years as a collegiate starter, he took 42 sacks last season at Colorado and lacks the mobility to consistently make plays outside the pocket. He's a rhythm passer with high-level accuracy in the pocket but features a slow release and hasn't shown elite arm strength to create space for his receivers down the field.
He's also faced criticism for his role as a locker room leader after throwing his teammates under the bus at times in college. He's also been coached by his father, Deion Sanders, throughout his football career, raising questions about how well he would take to NFL coaching at the next level.

While Sanders is the outright favorite to be drafted at No. 33, DraftKings is taking it a step further by offering the Browns as -400 favorites to select the Colorado QB - either with the 33rd pick or later in the draft.
Given Cleveland's woes under center over the last few years (and decades), it would make perfect sense for the Browns regime to take a low-risk swing on a player whom many saw as a potential No. 1 pick entering the 2025 NFL Draft cycle. Some draftniks still have him as a top-five prospect in this class.
I'd be a little skeptical to lay such short odds on the Browns, who weren't strongly linked to the former Buffaloes passer in the way that the Tennessee Titans (Ward) and New York Giants (Dart) were linked to their eventual picks.
That's why I'd be looking a bit further down the board at the New Orleans Saints, who missed out on a chance to draft Dart in the first round but could take a prospect with similar pedigree and upside a round later.
If Sanders makes it past the Browns at No. 33, don't be surprised if his draft slide ends at No. 40 as one of the first picks by new Saints head coach Kellen Moore - another productive and undersized college passer who found his way to the pros in 2012.
