A solid month for our best sports betting sites as sports wagering revenue for Pennsylvania’s top sportsbooks reached $42.5 million in April, 0.3% compared to the previous year. But the amount of money bet by gamblers- the handle - rose sharply to $711.6 million, a 10.1% increase.
According to the report published by the Pennsylvania Gambling Control Board (PGCB), online sportsbooks generated the majority of total revenue, $41.1 million, compared to retail locations, which only reported $1.3 million.
Pennsylvania currently has 11 online sportsbooks, including top sportsbook operators DraftKings, bet365, Caesars Sportsbook, Fanatics Sportsbook, FanDuel, BetRivers, and BetMGM.
One of the standouts in this segment was Presque Isle Downs, operated by bet365, which posted a Pennsylvania sports betting revenue of $1.9 million, an increase of over 2700% from April 2024. In comparison, FanDuel, which is located at Valley Forge Casino, had the top wagering revenue of the month, recording $20 million. The operator also recently launched casino jackpots in the state during the Kentucky Derby.
It wasn't all positive news for all Pennsylvania sports betting apps. Despite having the highest revenue, FanDuel reported a 21% year-on-year decline. The operator with the highest revenue decline of the month was Wind Creek Casino Bethlehem (BetFord Sports), which reported a 339.9% year-on-year revenue decline.
Overall gambling revenue tops $558.7 million
Pennsylvania gaming posted $558.7 million in revenue during April 2025. The amount is up by 10.7% compared to last April as residents continue to take advantage of Pennsylvania sportsbook promos. This represents continued recovery in the state's regulated gaming market after a modest recovery during March.
Online gaming was at the forefront of the monthly wins, with Pennsylvania online casino revenue totaling $227.7 million. The sector recorded a substantial year-on-year increase of 31.3%, reflecting the increasing consumer trend toward digital channels.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course was the state's leading iGaming revenue generator, posting a $83.2 million intake from online play alone. Its total gaming revenue for the operator was $97.7 million, a 24.7% boost compared to last year's same-month figure. That effort solidified its position as one of the top-grossing operators across all verticals.
While the online half of the market exploded, slot revenue for traditional retail dipped modestly. Retail slots generated $203.1 million in April, down 1.2% from the same time last year.
The state's operating slot machines fell slightly to 24,363 from 24,890. The highest earner in this category was Parx Casino, whose slots took home $31.4 million in revenue, even though that was down 0.7% from April 2024.
Retail table game revenue was $80.6 million, a gain of 2.7% compared to the prior year. Wind Creek Bethlehem was at the top of this category at $24 million, an increase of 9.6%. However, performance varied substantially between the casinos, with Hollywood Casino at the Meadows recording the highest table game decline at 39.2%.
